One reason to share your gifts

If you’ve felt scared of putting yourself out there, check this out.

I’ve written thousands of pages of material around spirituality, abundance and entrepreneurship over the years.

Writing by-cathryn-lavery-67852

Spirit tells me I have enough material on my computer’s hard drive right now for five lifetimes.

So why is it sitting on my hard drive, and not out there in the world?

I asked myself this question in meditation:

“I know that resisting putting out this material for people to see and read is absolutely your best idea right now, so …

“Why does it seem like such a good idea to continue sitting on this material?”

I heard:

  • “I don’t know what’s going to happen if I share it”
  • “I don’t want to know what could happen if I share it”

So, I said, yes. You’re right.

Book 1

No one knows what’s going to happen if we share it. We don’t know what’s going to happen five minutes from now, much less what’s going to happen if we share our writing with the world.

I also see you don’t want to know what could happen if we share it. That’s fine. Since there’s no way to know what could happen, why would you want to know? Why bother with idle speculation?

This resistance to sharing more of my writing reflects my relationship with uncertainty.

I flat-out hate uncertainty.

As I thought about how much I hate uncertainty, this thought came into my mind:

There is ONE thing that’s certain about sharing my writing with the world.

The odds are 99% that if I put it out there, at least one person will read it someday.

Reading by-prasanna-kumar-218699

And maybe, just maybe, it could help them in some way, like:

  • They could think, “Wow, I never thought of that. Maybe I can do what I feel called to do, too.”
  • Something I’ve written could make them feel less alone, because someone else knows how they feel
  • Something in it will inspire them to speak the first kind word they’ve said to their spouse (or their child, their employee, their dog) in a week
  • They could feel inspired to start offering their gifts to the world, too.
  • There are countless other possibilities, but these four are excellent reasons to start sharing more right now.

There is ONE thing that’s certain about continuing to resist sharing my writing with the world:

  1. NO ONE will get the help my work could give them

That thought made me burst into tears.

Crying baby by-tim-bish-171738

The idea that I was withholding something that could help someone filled me with shame and despair.

So, I rushed to reassure that tearful part of me, “I know that was never your intention. You are kindness and goodness itself – you would never knowingly withhold help from anyone.

“That is NOT what you have done.

“What you have done is protect yourself from the uncertainty you hate.

“Yet it’s important for you to see that the effect of what you have done is that people you –and only you – could have helped have had to live without that help. Until now.

“I see you’re grieving over all the wasted years, the wasted opportunities to be of service, the wasted potential – and, yes, that’s sad.

Sad by-francisco-moreno-255749

“Go ahead and feel that sadness and guilt and shame – knowing all that wasted time is over in the moment you realize the effect of your decision to share only a little bit of all you’ve written over the years.

“In that moment of realization, the pattern of sitting on the material, instead of sharing it, starts to dissolve.

“The tide is turning right now, energetically, and you will stop doing the old pattern because it begins to break up the moment you observe it – just as a particle changes when it is observed by quantum physicists. It is the same thing, because everything is energy.

“The particles of withholding love, help, awareness, insight and support are breaking up now and re-forming into willingness to share what you have to give in generous measure.

What’s holding you back?

Self-doubt keeps you scared, small and stuck

Have you been feeling stuck lately?

As if you want to do something to move toward a goal you really, really want – if only you knew what to do, and could be sure it would turn out okay?

Feeling stuck?

It’s hard to take action when a fearful inner voice insists on getting an ironclad guarantee that, if you take action, it will work.

There’s just one problem

Nothing in life is guaranteed. It’s frustrating, but there it is.

So, how can you – indeed, why should you – take action when you can never be sure how it will turn out?

How can you take inspired action?

Steps by-lindsay-henwood-47743

One baby step at a time.

Why should you take inspired action?

Because of who you become as you dare to walk toward the greater life calling out to you.

It can be hard to take action, inspired or not, without self-confidence. In fact, it’s pretty near impossible.

If self-doubt has kept you stuck in fear, indecision, or procrastination …

How to Feel Worthy of Abundance 2

If you feel too damaged to have Abundance, this tip is for you.

Here’s another great tip on opening to receive the Abundance you’re been trying so hard to attract.

If you’re of the millions of people who feel too damaged to have the good things in life, this tip is for you.

Maybe you’re hurting because you’ve been abandoned, attacked, disappointed, injured or sick.

I get it. I’ve been hurt, too, to the point where I lost hope.

In fact, I ran from hope. It felt like torture, because my fear of disappointment was so great.

Hiding by-caleb-woods-182648 (1)The thing is, pain – physical, mental, or emotional – pain makes children of us all … and our sense of ourselves, of our lives, and of what is possible for us shrinks down, too.

If you’re like most people who are hurting, you close off to your greater yet-to-be because you want to curl up in the seeming safety of a small life.

Maybe today is a good day to remember you are bigger than your brokenness …

How about we do this right now?

Put one hand over your heart and one hand on your belly.

Close your eyes …

And take in a deep breath as you say, “I am One with Wholeness…”

And let out a deep breath as you say, “And Wholeness is One with Me.”

3 Heart by-mayur-gala-487Let’s do this twice more. Your unconscious mind needs to hear something three times to believe it.

Again, deep breath in … “I am One with Wholeness…”

Deep breath out, “And Wholeness is One with Me.”

Once more …

Deep breath in … “I am One with Wholeness…”

Deep breath out, “And Wholeness is One with Me.”

Good! Notice how you feel. Great job!

That’s it for today, I’ll be back soon with another great tip. In the meantime, remember – you are LOVED!

Please share your comments with me. I’d love to know what you think!

Do You Have Shiny Object Syndrome?

This expensive malady can bust your budget …

As Summer winds down, are you pondering a Fall project to bring 2017 to a fabulous finish?

There are so many great programs out there to help you:

  • Write your book
  • Launch your business
  • Begin a blog, podcast, or video series
  • Market your products or services
  • Monetize your message

Podcast by-johannes-wredenmark-331751

So many options.

So little time.

How do you choose what to work on next?

Before you start any new project to build your biz or brand, let me ask you:

Whatever success means to you, how worthy of success do you feel, on a scale of 1 to 10?

Notice the first number that pops into your head.

If it’s “8” or above, you’re good to go. Choose the project that excites you the most – and go for it. Doing what delights you helps you stay the course once the initial excitement wears off.

If it’s “7” or under, file under “Later” the program(s) you’re thinking about joining.

Why? Shiny Object by-greyson-joralemon-186357

You’re on the verge of falling into Shiny Object Syndrome – a debt-generating malady that drives you to:

  • Sign up for exciting new programs …
  • Avoid starting or finishing the program …
  • Get distracted by a new Shiny Object …
  • Buy it …
  • Avoid starting or finishing it …

And so it goes, expensively ever after.

What is up with that?

Deep down, you feel unworthy of the success you believe the project will bring you…

So, whether you fear success or failure (or both), you unconsciously sabotage yourself with indecision, distraction (hello, new Shiny Object!), or realizing you must re-pot all your plants before you can concentrate on your new project.

Plants by-mr-cup-fabien-barral-91725

Sound familiar?

It does to me. I’ve done all those things. How about you?

Here’s the thing. It’s not your fault.

If you’re like me, you’ve cultivated a sense of unworthiness since you were a child, out of a very understandable desire to avoid accusations like, “You’re getting too big for your britches,” “Who do you think you are?” or “How can you be so selfish?”

The great news:

You fell into a trance of unworthiness, and you can come out of it. Self Worth Here and Now

You start waking up the moment you decide to do so.

Then, you consciously own your worthiness so you can get unstuck and keep moving forward.

You may have to own your worthiness several times a day, until you shed your unconscious addiction to self-doubt … but think of the rewards:

  • Authentic self-confidence that empowers you to trust yourself to handle the wonderful people and exciting opportunities attracted by the glowing charisma confidence gives you
  • Deeply rooted self-respect that allows you to set healthy boundaries, so you have the time, energy and focus needed to move toward the greatness waiting to meet you
  • Heartfelt self-compassion that lets you see missteps as bumps in the road, rather than the end of the road, so you can stay motivated to find the Abundance that wants to find you.

If you would like help busting out of Shiny Object Syndrome so you can:

  1. Delight in working on your passion project
  2. Joyfully complete it
  3. Reap the abundant rewards awaiting you as your year ends in victory …
